🦉 The yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)

This is a small bright spot in the monotonous spring landscape. The male looks like this - a bright lemon head and chest, a brownish back with dark speckles. Even its Latin name "citrinella" is translated as "little lemon". The female is more modest - her outfit seems to have faded in the sun, but still retains warm yellowish shades.

The bird usually sings, sitting quietly and motionless on the top of a bush or on wires, proudly sticking out its chest and slightly throwing back its head.
In urban conditions the bird is not numerous. I meet these birds in meadows outside the city, where they spend all their time in bushes, in mixed forest near the river, but there are very few of them there.
