🦉 The wood sandpiper (Tringa glareola)

This sandpiper is about the size of a thrush, but you wouldn't know it from looking at it, due to its long legs. I meet these birds every year near the river. There is a place where, due to the unevenness of the landscape and the river's retreat, a small seasonal lake is formed, where sandpipers and ducks like to rest.

In the photos and videos you can see how their color literally blends in with the surroundings, especially with pebbles and large stones covered with mud and silt.
