🦉 The Siberian long-tailed rosefinch (Carpodacus sibiricus)

This bird has two other names - the long-tailed bullfinch and the long-tailed rosefinch. And indeed, there are some common similarities with these birds, especially the shape of the beak. I meet them quite rarely, and usually at the very end of autumn closer to winter.

Their habitats are thickets of bushes in fields or meadows near rivers.
They feed almost exclusively on seeds, but in summer they can occasionally eat insects. They collect seeds on the ground, which is actually what you can see in the winter photo. The bright pink male sits on the snow and eats fallen seeds.
