🦉 The Eurasian bullfinch, common bullfinch or bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula)
- Pyrrhula (Greek): pyrrhos - red
These cute, plump birds are the epitome of winter. They are very fond of being depicted on various winter greeting New Year cards. Indeed, these birds become visible only with the arrival of winter. They appear in parks and courtyards.
However, you can meet them much earlier, in the fall, in the forests. The birds are quite secretive and timid in the wild, so they don’t let them get close to them. In parks and courtyards they are accustomed to people, so you can admire how they eat the seeds of rowan berries literally a few meters away.
