🦉 The Siberian stonechat or Asian stonechat (Saxicola maurus)

• Saxicola (lat ): saxum rock, stone, -cola inhabitant
• maurus (lat.): Moorish, black

These funny birds arrive in early May, when it is already consistently warm and there is no snow. And I always go to meet them outside the city in the meadows. It is these open places that are their nesting sites. And thanks to the open area, these birds are very easy to observe and photograph, especially since they are not very afraid of people and you can approach them at a distance of at least 15 meters.

One of their distinguishing characteristics is their love to sit on the very tops of thickets and flowers, or other plants. They are like meerkats observing their territory and surroundings. Moreover, even very young birds are already doing this.
