πŸ¦‰ The common chaffinch or simply the chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)

  • fringilla (lat.) - finch; fi nco (Old German), fi nc (Old English)
  • coelebs coelebs (lat.) - single, idle, unmarried

I would like to believe that these delightful forest singers will arrive next week, but alas. The weather is going crazy. Have you ever seen a thunderstorm in winter, during a blizzard? And in my region, this extremely rare phenomenon has already happened 4 times in 2 months.
But still, even this may not stop the arrival of these birds, because it’s not for nothing that we call them β€œfrozies”. They are frost-resistant, arrive first, and fly away late when it’s already cold.

Of course, the males will arrive first, and then after about a week the females and young males will arrive.
Males will find and occupy a territory and will guard and sing songs.
