馃 The Siberian long-tailed rosefinch (Carpodacus sibiricus)

For some reason, the name of this bird keeps changing. I remember just recently they were called long-tailed bullfinch. And in fact, the bird is similar in appearance to a bullfinch, just as plump, with the same short, strong beak.
They appear within the boundaries of my city around mid-autumn, but they do not fly into the city itself and stay near the outskirts. To be more precise, they roam along rivers and railways, which they use as landmarks.
As you might guess from its beak and family membership, this bird feeds on various grains, nuts, grass seeds and berries. In the summer, it sometimes adds insects to the diet; in general, the diet is the same as that of a bullfinch or rosefinch.
