This species of woodpecker is rare, but recently they have begun to appear more and more often in the city鈥檚 forests, mainly in winter. It cannot be said with certainty that if you go into the forest you will definitely meet it, such as the Great Spotted Woodpecker or others.
I met this male in the photo in early spring. The sun was already warm, but there were still deep snowdrifts, but this did not stop me from getting closer to him. He sat on a tree and sang his melancholy song, sometimes he pecked at the tree, and you can even see that he was working on the hollow.
