These birds are quite modest and are found mostly alone. Only with the arrival of cold weather, in late autumn, do they gather in small flocks, not even flocks but groups.
At this time, they feed mainly on rowan seeds, which they take out from the berries by biting them. But sometimes on particularly cold days and when they need to gain fat, they eat the seeds of the ash maple, which are very fatty.

In spring, these small groups of bullfinches break up. Males quietly and barely noticeably sing mating songs consisting of whistling and hoarse sounds. And females choose suitable males.
