🦉 The black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius)

Although these big guys are not common, it is difficult not to notice them. They are large in size and their memorable voice is very loud. In addition, you can find traces of their activity, or rather wood chips and bark from the tree they worked on.
And in the spring, after there is no more snow, you can see these woodpeckers eating ants straight from the anthill. But by the way, they not only eat ants, but also “bathe” in them. Since formic acid is an excellent natural repellent against parasites.
