I met a very unusual flock of birds in winter. Take a look at the first photo. Two different species of redpolls sit on the same tree. Moreover, one of them has an orange spot instead of a red one. WAT? Why orange? No, this is not my post-processing defect, there is a minimum of processing here, only sharpening.
In general, I encounter arctic (we call them tundra or ashy) redpolls much less often than common ones. At first glance they are difficult to distinguish. Their main feature is the whiter color of the feathers on the lower body and the absence of variegated stripes.
