🦉 The spotted flycatcher (Muscicapa striata)

I have no idea why we call this brown bird the “gray flycatcher.”
It is much less common than, for example, the pied flycatcher. As it is written in the encyclopedia, the bird lives on the very outskirts of forests, along clearings and roadsides. I met these birds in the cemetery along the paths, in the forest along the coastal zone.

And again, unlike the same pied flycatcher, this bird has a completely different way of hunting and obtaining insects. She deliberately picks up a separate branch from where she can see everything and sits looking out for insects, and she sits strictly vertically. Seeing an insect, she grabs it and then returns back to the same branch.
