🦉 The white-backed woodpecker (Dendrocopos leucotos)

• leucotos (Greek): leukos - white, nōton - back

This species of woodpecker is much less common than the great spotted woodpecker, but it is, so to speak, more friendly. It's easier to photograph. These woodpeckers love difficult forest areas with diseased and rotten trees. They inspect them and eat harmful insects.

By the way, this species is wilder than its counterparts, I mean that you will not see it in city parks and groves. As a rule, I most often see them in mid-autumn.
