🦉 The lesser spotted woodpecker (Picoides minor , synonym of Dryobates minor)

• Dryobates (Greek) : druos - forest, woodland, batēs - walker, stroller
• minor (Latin) - smaller

This cute little woodpecker is about the size of a nuthatch. Interestingly, I most often see them in autumn and spring. So this time, I met this friend in the autumn, in the company of other birds, the so-called mixed bird flock.

It rarely happens that I meet them in the summer, and usually alone.
Well, overall, it’s still the same woodpecker like everyone else, just small in size.
