🦉 The black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius)

I met five of these large woodpeckers in mid-July. It was a family, and the parents were close to these teenagers. Together they examined the trees and pecked at them.

In general, I do not often meet these woodpeckers in the summer, mostly in late autumn and winter. But according to this event, it was clear that parents are engaged in teaching their children, therefore, during such periods, birds constantly change their habitat. You may have noticed that in the middle-end of summer there are as if there are no birds in the forests at all.
