The plumage of these charming birds is extremely fluffy, from a distance the bird looks like a ball with a long tail. It resembles a pouring spoon for soup, for which in some countries it was called a ladle.

It is best to observe these charms in autumn or winter, as part of mixed bird flocks. In spring, flocks break up into pairs, and in summer, these birds, like the rest, lead a quiet, secretive lifestyle.
