馃 The European robin (Erithacus rubecula)
馃摎 Erithacus erithakos (Greek) unidentified small bird in
the works of ancient authors; erythros (Greek, lat.) red
馃摎 rubecula ruber (lat.) red, reddish, rubeculus diminished. by ruber
This small graceful bird, despite her fragile size, is quite frost-resistant. I meet her every year at the end of April, when the snow has just melted and it is still quite cool.
By this time, the males are already singing their beautiful songs with might and main, showing everyone that this is his territory. By the way, I always meet these birds in the old cemetery where there are a lot of bushes.
These birds fly away for the winter too late. Last year I met a couple of these birds in early November! When it was already snowing.
The bird is insectivorous, and I don鈥檛 even know what she eats in such cold times.
