Saludos, estimada comunidad. Me trae por aquí un nuevo juego didáctico relacionado con las matemáticas, me refiero a la numeración romana, la cual viene de la antigua Roma y se continúa usando en algunos casos específicos (indicar siglos, numerar líneas de sucesión, señalar capítulos de trabajos o libros, expresar aniversarios, entre otros). Quizás sea un contenido un tanto complicado para los niños porque no los emplean cotidianamente, por eso busco que este aprendizaje sea internalizado con una estrategia distinta, divertida y placentera. Me dispuse entonces a buscar algunas cajas para realizar fichas.

Greetings, dear community. It brings me here a new didactic game related to mathematics, I am referring to Roman numeration, which comes from ancient Rome and continues to be used in some specific cases (indicating centuries, numbering lines of succession, indicating chapters of works or books, expressing anniversaries, among others). Perhaps it is a somewhat complicated content for children because they do not use them daily, so I seek that this learning is internalized with a different, fun and enjoyable strategy. So I set out to look for some boxes to make flashcards.

Materials:

Small boxes

Markers

Ruler

Scissors

Procedimiento:

Con ayuda de una regla marqué 20 rectángulos, luego, los recorté. Aproveché el color blanco de las cajas, empecé a marcar los números, de un lado la numeración normal y del otro los números romanos.

Con un marcador rojo rellené los números ordinales y los delineé en negro. Para la otra numeración solo usé el marcador negro.

Marqué una línea en cada ficha para dividir a ambos números. Luego, los recorté.

Procedure:

With the help of a ruler I marked 20 rectangles, then, I cut them out. I took advantage of the white color of the boxes and began to mark the numbers, on one side the normal numbering and on the other the Roman numerals.

With a red marker I filled in the ordinal numbers and outlined them in black. For the other numbering I just used the black marker.

I drew a line on each card to divide the two numbers. Then I cut them out.

Para empezar a jugar, lo primero que debemos hacer es explicarle al infante que los números romanos son letras que tienen un valor número, revisaremos las más básicas:

I: 1
V: 5
X: 10
L: 50
C: 100
D: 500
M: 1000

A partir de este primer reconocimiento, indicaremos que los números se leen de izquierda a derecha y hay que tener presente dos reglas importantes:

Se suman cuando el valor inicial es seguido por valores iguales o menores.
Se restan cuando los números son seguidos de un valor mayor.

To start playing, the first thing to do is to explain to the child that Roman numerals are letters that have a number value, we will review the most basic ones:

I: 1

V: 5

X: 10

L: 50

C: 100

D: 500

M: 1000

From this first recognition, we will point out that numbers are read from left to right and two important rules must be kept in mind:

They are added when the initial value is followed by equal or smaller values.

They are subtracted when the numbers are followed by a larger value.

Con la comprensión de este aprendizaje, colocaremos todas las tarjetas desordenadas. La idea es que el niño pueda armar cada ficha, teniendo en cuenta que a cada número ordinal le corresponde un número romano.

With the understanding of this learning, we will place all the cards out of order. The idea is that the child can assemble each card, keeping in mind that each ordinal number corresponds to a Roman numeral.

Estuve jugando con mi ahijado Leonel, al principio se confundía, pero con la práctica fue asimilando la identificación de los números. Por supuesto, no podemos suponer que en un solo día lograremos resultados loables, por tanto, debemos seguir realizando esta actividad como parte del reforzamiento de sus conocimientos.

I was playing with my godson Leonel, at first he was confused, but with practice he was assimilating the identification of the numbers. Of course, we cannot assume that in just one day we will achieve praiseworthy results, therefore, we must continue doing this activity as part of the reinforcement of his knowledge.
