English version
Today we’ll head to the Salvador Allende roundabout, a circular plaza that connects Perimetral Avenue, Los Mangles Avenue, Caigüire Avenue, and Carúpano Avenue, thereby dividing traffic between those who choose the road parallel to the beach and those who prefer to travel along the inner route that passes through Caigüire, the hospital, and Gran Mariscal Avenue.
The roundabout is very well maintained, with green spaces that enhance the urban landscape. There is a dirt path bordered by stones of various sizes and striking vegetation. From this vantage point, the view is pleasant, as you can see the imposing Pan de Azúcar Hill, which, in the distance, seems to embrace the roundabout.
It’s a small but quite comfortable place; during my stay, I was joined by a few black-capped jays looking for a chance to eat. Although these birds like to stay in the trellises, I’ve seen several of them walking on the ground looking for food, scratching at the dirt with their feet, just like chickens.
Since it’s a roundabout, you have to be careful when crossing from one side to the other; cars and motorcycles come from all directions, making it difficult to enter and exit this area, which reminds me of the roundabout on Fernández de Serpa Avenue that marks the beginning of a series of small squares and plazas.
I decided then to continue along Carúpano Avenue; several plazas with green spaces awaited me further ahead, including the Gruta de la Virgen del Valle, a place of peace and prayer that I also planned to visit on this walk. I hope the sun will be kind to me and let me continue enjoying this morning.
