English version

Inmaculada Square takes its name from the fact that it is situated opposite the school of the same name. It is even the same size as the school, making it quite spacious. It has benches well spaced out so that both children and adults can play and chat without any hindrance.

This spot serves as a haven for the residents of Caigüire, who sit here at various times of the day to enjoy the square’s gardens and the company of their neighbours. It is also a meeting place for those waiting to fill up their cars with petrol, as the petrol station is relatively nearby.

I went to school at the ‘La Inmaculada’ Educational Centre and have known this area for a few years, but I’d never stopped to take photos of its gardens and concrete structures. Today, with a more curious eye than I had back then, I realise that this isn’t a lifeless place but one full of traditions, recollections and memories; children, mothers, fathers and grandparents have all passed through here, leaving their mark with every step.

As it’s opposite a school, it’s perfectly normal for pupils to gather here to do their homework; the square is close to their homes – or at least to most of them – so it’s the perfect spot to get on with their schoolwork.

I’m still exploring new squares; it would be wonderful to visit every single one in my city. I know there are still stories waiting to be uncovered, and I’m determined to write about these fascinating places for everyone to enjoy.
