English version
Walking along Perimetral Avenue, I reached the beginning of the Cinta Costera boardwalk. The sign is located right in front of the Salvador Allende Clinic and indicates that from there all the way to the Hernán Marín Amphitheater, we’ll have a view of the ocean. This sign is located in a small but cozy space. The palm trees here stand out, offering shade to visitors, but it’s important to note that this isn’t a plaza but rather an island used for crossing the street.
The term “malecón” is relatively new, as is the name Cacique Maraguey, which replaced Avenida Perimetral. Since its construction, this boulevard has offered incredible views, with the beach on one side and Cerro Pan de Azúcar on the other.
When walking here, you must exercise extreme caution, as vehicles travel at high speeds along this avenue, which makes crossing the street at any point very dangerous; in fact, there have been countless accidents near the Los Chaimas traffic light.
From this spot, you can see Carúpano Avenue and also Salvador Allende Square, which is a great place to rest for a while and enjoy the greenery.
When I took this walk, the sky was on my side—it was clear, though the sun wasn’t too strong. A gentle breeze accompanied my steps as I took some photos while sheltered under a palm tree. Walking along this path has become part of my daily routine ever since I realized how the seaside scenery improves my physical and emotional well-being. That’s why these walks along the Cinta Costera have become a regular part of my life.
