W grudniu 2020roku w dzielnicy Leith pojawił się dość kontrowersyjny moim zdaniem mural. Przedstawia on bezdomnego który spał na ulicach Leith przez okres około 25-30 lat, a w 2018 roku znalazł się w domu opieki.
In December 2020, a mural appeared in the Leith district, in my opinion quite controversial. It shows a homeless man who slept in the streets of Leith for about 25-30 years and ended up in a nursing home in 2018.

I oczywiście jest to dobra inicjatywa, zwracająca uwage na problem bezdomności. A uważam że ludziom powinno sie pomagać, tylko czasem o tym zapominamy, a takie akcje powinny nam przypominać że nie jesteśmy sami, a każdy z nas mógł miec sytuacje w życiu która mogła sprawić że to wlaśnie my możemy potrzebować pomocy od innych.
And of course it is a good initiative to address the problem of homelessness. And I think that people should be helped, only sometimes we forget about it, and such actions should remind us that we are not alone, and that each of us could have had a situation in life that could make it possible for us to need help from others.

Ja osobiście nie popieram dawania ludziom na ulicy gotówki. Ale staram się wspierać organizacje charytatywne które znają potrzeby i dzięki wsparciu mogą je realizować. W większych sklepach są też miejsca gdzie możemy zostawić żywność która trafia do osób potrzebujących, a także mamy możliwość wspierania takich organizacji jak ta która umożliwia nam zostawienie jedzenia którego kupiliśmy za dużo lub po prostu możemy coś kupić dla nich. A oni przekazują to dalej.

Ale co w tej konkretnej sytuacji mnie zastanawia? Oczywiście że są różne sytuacje w naszym życiu i nie na wszystko mamy wpływ. Ale czemu ktoś mający rodzinę spędza dwadzieścia kilka lat na ulicy? Czemu dopiero prawie po trzydziestu latach ktoś otrzymuje pomoc? Zostawiam wam link do lkoalnych gazet oceńcie sami, może warto pomyśleć wspólnie by częściej pomagać wcześniej a nie czekać na tragedie by móc ją opisać w wiadomościach.
But what in this particular situation puzzles me? Of course, there are different situations in our lives and we do not have influence on everything. But why does someone with a family spend twenty-some years on the street? Why does someone get help only after thirty years? I leave you a link to local newspapers, judge for yourself, maybe it is worth thinking together to help more often earlier and not wait for a tragedy to be able to describe it in the news.
