Greetings to all Hive users and SWC athletes! I hope you are doing very well and continue with the spirit and discipline to carry out your training. On this occasion, I want to share a training session focused on one of the most challenging and aesthetic strength elements in calisthenics: the hefesto.
Dear readers, evolution in our sport involves constantly facing our weaknesses to turn them into strengths. Although I have a very low level in hefesto, I am very anxious and motivated to master that skill, so today I decided to get to work and carry out a routine to get my body used to it. This exercise requires exceptional shoulder mobility and immense bicep strength, so progressive conditioning is vital to avoid any type of injury.
To start with maximum energy, I began with the most difficult exercises for me, which are the hefesto negatives; basically it's about starting from the very top of the bar and going down as slowly as possible performing the negative phase. Controlling the descent allows the connective tissues to adapt to the extreme tension generated by shoulder extension behind the back. Every centimeter gained in the slowness of the drop is one more step toward mastering the full movement.
To complement the specific strength work, I later performed hefesto curls on a low bar; this exercise is similar to an inverted bicep curl, it is done with feet on the ground and on a low bar to later imitate the hefesto movement. Having leg support allowed me to focus on technique and range of motion without the total body weight preventing me from doing the necessary repetitions. At all times, I was focused on performing the best possible technique in each exercise, seeking maximum contraction. I leave the park with fatigued arms but with the satisfaction of having formally started the path toward this great goal.
Without anything more to add, I bid farewell. Stay tuned for future posts! Until next time!
