Growing up, I've always known that I was a very shy kid. I found it hard to talk to people and that always pissed Dad off, especially when he sends me on errands and I mess it up. So when I got to eighteen years of age, I told myself I was done being shy. I was no longer a kid and needed to stop acting like one. I started doing things the normal shy me wouldn't, that was how I knew I could train myself not to be shy. Trust me, it was difficult but as time went on, it all started to feel normal for me.
And when it was time for me to leave home for the University, I had silently prayed that God should give me friends who aren't as shy as I used to be, friends that could always motivate me to do things I normally wouldn't. But then they say the prayers of a sinner is an abomination to God so you know the rest of the story...
The reason why I choose to talk about my shyness today is because there happen to be this lady who works down the street from where I live, I happen to have an "interest" in her but honestly don't know how to go about it.
I call it "an interest" because I don't want to be quick to say that I'm in love with her because that is what everyone says this days. They think everything is love until they really get to know that person and find out that they just really want to be just friends with that person.
My friend claims he loves her and would love to date her but then remember I said God didn't answer my prayers about having a friend not as shy as me, so he's terrified to speak to her and though he might not say it, but I know he's silently waiting on me to make the first move so that he can talk to her through me.
But with the looks of things, that obviously isn't going to happen anytime soon because I'm not ready to move on to that next phase of my life where I can see someone I like and just walk up to that person to start a random conversation. Maybe I will be ready in the future but for now, I'm just going to enjoy watching from afar.
