So I got sworn in today, and inasmuch as I would have loved to show you guys some pictures, I didn't take any, and I will explain why.
In my previous blog, I had talked about a lady who made it her sole purpose to frustrate me. Well, after I eventually got done with that whole process, I was given my NYSC uniform. Now, unlike what I thought, we weren't permitted to go through the clothes to maybe select those we felt would be our sizes.
We just went in there and took whatever they gave to us. So as you can imagine, a lot of it ended up not being our size. But that wouldn't be a problem if the swearing-in ceremony wasn't the next day (today) because what that meant was that I had only a couple of hours to amend the uniform so that I could wear it in the ceremony.
But then again, that wouldn't be a concern if it was just me, but it wasn't; it was also everyone else. Almost everybody had something to amend on their uniform, and that ended up making the tailors in the camp be bombarded with work and not be able to attend to everyone.
Anyway, I gave one of them the uniform, and he had promised to work on it later that night after taking my measurements. But then I got there this morning, and he hadn't even taken it out of the nylon I put it in when I first handed it over to him. I wasn't upset because I could clearly see he was busy, but I was sad with the fact that I knew I had to wear the trousers like that by forcing it on.
I couldn't even walk properly in it, but I made it walk somehow. And the moment the ceremony was over, I rushed in to get it off me before taking it back to the tailor.
And that is why I currently have no picture to either post here or on my socials. But I did send my family two pictures because it is family, and I knew I had to send something to them because they wouldn't mind, no matter how ugly or bad the picture looks.
