If things had gone a bit south for me last night, there's a huge possibility I probably would have been making this blog as a homeless person with a lot of debt on my head to pay.

About 7pm last night, I had walked into my room to change my clothes because I had made plans to go spend the night at a close friend's house. When I got into my room, the first thing I did was to turn on my gas and try to heat up the remaining stew I had in my pot.

With almost no electricity to power up the fridge, the only way to preserve your food and make sure it doesn't go bad for a day or two is to keep it heated up. So I had turned on the gas cooker, put it on low heat, and placed my pot on it.

I went to my wardrobe to change my clothes but quickly decided not to, because I felt the clothes I had on were good enough and there was no point in changing them. So I went to the door, locked it, and left for my friend's place.

I'm sure if you're reading this blog right now, you're probably wondering what went wrong, as everything so far seems normal. Well, just like I missed it, I'm sure you guys missed it too.

When I got home this morning, I quickly noticed a foul smell in the air, and as I traced that smell, lo and behold, it was my pot of stew, burnt beyond recognition.

During all of that decision-making process last night, I had forgotten about the pot of stew that was left on low heat and had walked out of the room without turning it off. Luckily for me, it turned out I didn't have a lot of gas in my gas cylinder, so somewhere in between the night, the gas had run out and everything went off.

That's probably the only reason why this whole place didn't catch on fire last night.

I must be some lucky dude because if I had known that I was low on gas, I probably would have filled it up the previous day, and only God knows what would have happened if I had done that. My mind still can't comprehend the amount of damage that could have happened, not only to me but also to my neighbors who probably would have been sleeping at the time.

I'm so grateful for life, and I hope I never get to make the stupid mistake ever again in my life.
