This Sunday is probably one of the most chaotic Sundays that I've had in a long time, and it's not even 12pm yet.
Last night, I had gone to bed with hopes of going to church this morning, especially it being the first Sunday of the month. I was still in bed when one of my neighbors came to knock on my door. He was whispering something under his breath to me, and if this were any other day, I probably would have ignored it.
But the urgency in the whisper made me listen attentively, and that was when I heard him. Police were in the vicinity. He had told me that so that I could lock my door, probably, and just be ready for whatever it is that may come.
About ten minutes later, I heard some voices at the door of the guy who had earlier come to warn me about the police being around. They had mistaken him for someone else and had almost arrested him, but luckily for him, that didn't happen.
After all was said and done, the police had to leave because they couldn't locate the guy they were searching for. He had earlier gotten the news about the police coming around and had fled for his life. Well, seeing how I could no longer go back to bed, I decided to just start making my breakfast, which was going to be rice and stew.
I already had stew at home and just needed to boil some rice. So I did just that; I had placed the pot of rice on the fire and added enough water. Then I heard that the guy the police were looking for earlier was around, so I joined a couple of others to go ask him what the problem was and why he was wanted.
Right as we were in the middle of that conversation, someone noticed a thick cloud of smoke coming from someone else's window upstairs. Lo and behold, it was my window; my pot of rice was burning. By the time I eventually got to my room, the whole place was almost covered in smoke, but the worst thing was that the clothes I had brought out to wear to church now had this very ridiculous smell on them, one you could only get off by washing them and not just spraying cologne on them.
So now I'm seated in my room, no church for me, and no breakfast for me either. Happy Sunday.
