I won't lie, the love I received from the church I worshipped at while in the village influenced my life a lot. Most of the time, I will just find myself gifting people without thinking much about it, and that's exactly how I receive from people.
While at the villa, there was a guy I was getting along with while doing church duties. He was schooling outside the state, and when he visited home one festive season for the holidays, he saw how I had established myself in church duties, and he was glad to see me flowing very well. One evening, when I was at home, he came to our compound and handed me a black nylon containing a pair of footwear. According to him, he had had the footwear at home for some time and hadn't used it, and he just felt he should gift it to me. I was glad to have been gifted. I knew the reason I was gifted was because he had seen me around doing what he liked, and he was prompted to encourage me. Most times, that's how gifting works; we gift people we feel prompted to give to and also help in situations where we feel prompted to offer assistance.
During that same period, there was a guy in our church who was always available for church tasks, and I just needed to encourage him, or rather say "thank you." Even though I couldn't reward him in the way God does, I decided to gift him some of my fine clothes that I hadn't worn up to three times.
Honestly, it wasn't until I had given the clothes to the guy that I realised I had been prompted to give them out because of how I had recently been gifted.
That's not the only case; these acts have become a lifestyle for me. Whenever someone does something for me, no matter how small it is, and of course, I don't rate any good act as small, I usually get the urge to do the same for others. It may not be the same pattern in which I was gifted; I will just get the urge to extend the good gesture to anyone.
Some months ago, my generator was troubleshooting, and I was completely worn out by the situation because I had reached out to my mechanic, and he wasn't available at that moment. Then, the elderly man who is close to my shop saw how sweaty and tired I was with the situation, walked to my place with his tools, brought out the carburettor, and fixed the problem. Yeah, he used to have some mechanical knowledge. I was so touched that day because he didn't collect any money, and he fixed the situation while we talked and laughed over it.
Just tell me why I wouldn't be pushed to help someone in need of what I can offer?
The next day, I saw a boy around 17 years old, thereabouts, struggling with heavy loads on his bicycle. I didn't think twice before going to help him sort out the situation, and the boy couldn't contain his gratitude. But hey, I didn't do that simply because I had been helped recently. Helping people in situations where I can has been a part of me.
Mehn, this world will be better if everyone avails themselves of the opportunity to do good to people.
