Some time yesterday, I had received a text from my brother, telling me that I needed to be at my aunt's place the next day (being today) because she wanted to see me. I wasn't very happy about it because I always hate leaving my house, but I had no choice but to obey the order.
So earlier this morning, I had gotten dressed and got on my way to her place. But you see, today's blog has nothing to do with me being at my aunt's place, but what happened on my way there was what inspired me to make this blog.
And I say that because on my way to her place, we had stopped at a red light, and while we were waiting for the countdown so that the light could turn to green and we continued our journey, I had heard somewhere down the road this siren that was driving towards another lane nonstop.
And as I looked to see if it was the governor driving by or the military men and all that, what I saw instead made me feel some kind of way. I say that because it wasn't any of the guys that I thought it was, but a van that had prisoners in it.
I knew this because I could see some openings at the top of the van, and I could see the prisoners' fingers sticking out of it as they all tried to have a glimpse of the free world. Not only that, but I could tell some of them were struggling to look outside, probably because they have no idea when next they will be able to have such a view anymore.
And of course I felt some kind of way about it. Here I was grumbling about the fact that I had to leave my house to go somewhere; meanwhile, those people locked up in that van would give almost anything to have the freedom that I fully wasn't making use of.
It made me a lot more appreciative of the fact that I can do whatever I want to do, whenever I want. I guess seeing those people made me wonder what life without freedom would feel like, and I didn't like that thought at all.
