I took my bath, checked the kitchen and there was no food to eat. I was rushing to to somewhere important to continue some activities, but I did not have a clothe to wear simply because the rain did not allow the little clothes I took to my parents place to dry, ever since I washed and hunged them for drying outside. I had to take an old cloth to the village roadside tailor for some amendment.
On reaching her shop, I met her little son, who told me his mum had gone out very early to her local farm and will not be back soon as she went to cut some plantains. I got disappointed and had wanted to leave when he asked me if I came for amendment and I said yes. He told me that I should bring the cloth for him that he will amend it. He added that he knew how to sew brand new clothes too. I believed him and gave him my cloth for the amendment. He asked me how I wanted the clothe to be and I told him. He took some measurements and swung into action. To my surprise he climbed the sewing machine pedal and began sewing like no man's business. He listened to me carefully and was just being nice all through.
When he finished sewing the clothe, I tested it and realized he had done a great job, it was just remaining for him to hold the hand of the clothe slightly. I showed him the spot and he marked it with a chalk and sewed it neatly for me. The little boy was all hardworking, kind and very respectful. I asked him how much he charged and he said N800 and I decided to give him N1,000 because he was so smart, kind, respectful and helpful to his mother. I really enjoyed his services.
While I was trying to put on the clothe before leaving the shop at once, a heavy rain began to fall that morning, leaving me stranded because I had no umbrella with me, meanwhile, my parent's house was just a stone throw away. One of the street neighbors came to the shop to beg for palm oil being that the house of the tailor was just behind the shop. He excused himself and asked me to wait for him to go get the palm oil for her. He returned shortly and after giving her the palm oil, he requested that the lady accompanied me with her umbrella and just drop me by our compound. She obliged and that was how I went with her and she dropped me off. I thanked her.
That was how I was able to wear my clothes and go to the place of importance. On reaching there, the rain fell even more heavily. It fell throughout the day and almost tried to frustrate me and other people who did not have any umbrella to shield themselves from the rain.
Thankfully, I was still able to carry out some activities with the help of some people who had umbrella. I'm still grateful for everything especially for the kindness people showed me today.
