Yesterday, I embarked on another one of my adventures to Havana, the capital of Cuba. I live in a neighboring province and travel there frequently for various reasons. I arrived early and remembered that the annual International Book Fair was opening that day. Since I was close to the fairgrounds where the event was taking place, I decided to head over and be among the first to attend.
This year, the fair debuts a new venue. Known as the "Estación Cultural," it is a recently renovated space located in Vedado—one of the city's most central areas—making it easy for the public to access the activities and fairs held there.
But upon arriving at the site, I discovered a series of metal sculptures arranged in a line on the sidewalk in front of the station...
It was a pleasant and unusual surprise to see six metal sculptures placed in front of the building. I found no information regarding their titles or the artists' names, and I do not know whether the works are there permanently or are part of an exhibition for the International Book Fair.
All the sculptures were crafted from metal, primarily using welding techniques. They exhibit exquisite workmanship and finishing.
Each sculptor has their own style, their own vision of form, and their own way of connecting with the viewer.
Metal is one of the most versatile materials used by sculptors throughout history. The various ways in which these sculptors use it demonstrate this.
I wanted to conclude this post with images of the only figurative sculpture in the group. This cow-like figure is appealing and achieves a beautiful synthesis of the animal's form. It captivates us with its grace, despite the hardness and coldness of the metal from which it was crafted.
Upon asking, I learned that only the official inauguration of the fair was taking place that day; it would open to the public the following day. So, I decided to continue my tour of Havana planning to return another day to visit the fair while delighting in the discovery of these magnificent sculptures in an urban setting for everyone to enjoy.

Ayer ocurrió otra de mis aventuras hasta la Habana, capital de Cuba. Vivo en una provincia vecina, y con frecuencia viajo por distintos motivos. Pero al llegar al lugar descubrí una serie de esculturas en metal ubicadas en línea en la acera frontal de la Estación...
Fue una agradable y poco común sorpresa ver 6 esculturas de metal emplazadas frente al edificio. No encontré referencia al título y nombre de los autores y no se si las obras están allí de forma perenne o son una muestra con motivo de la Feria Internacional del libro.
Todas las esculturas fueron realizadas en metal y mayormente con la técnica de la soldadura. Tienen una exquisita factura y terminación.
Cada Escultor con su estilo, su visión de la forma y su discurso para llegar a los espectadores.
El metal es uno de los materiales más versátiles y usados por los escultores a lo largo de la historia. Las diferentes maneras en que estos escultores lo usan es una muestra de ello.
