Me gusto verte

ENGLISH

I liked seeing you
amidst those intense sunset colors
it was the hour that presaged
the dark, empty night.
Now I see nothing amidst the shadows
the stench of the neighbor's pigs mercilessly fouls the air,
mosquitoes wheel in their dance
piercing my skin for sustenance
and ants find paths
across my feet despite the darkness
biting my skin to find their way
for there is no North Star in the sky.
In the distance
an artificial light moans, dying
in an empty house
everyone decided to leave
only the crickets enjoy the earth
I do not understand what they sing today they have sung very little
adding themselves to the silence
of a forgotten city.

The poem is my own work. The image was taken with my Moto G82 phone.
