Hi Hive,
If you have read my post about how I became a boxer you saw I used to struggle with my mental health.
I found myself at a place where I felt terrible and that caused me to eat badly and not really take care of myself, which again led to feeling more terrible.. and so on and so forth.
I reached a point where one week I literally ate nothing but Snickers bars and Pringls, telling myself that I felt terrible and didn't have "time" to eat anything else because I was too busy and the last thing I needed to worry about is what I ate.
Guess what ..... you're right this just kept on spiraling downwards!
Then one day I had this light bulb moment where I set myself a challenge to go completely plant-based for 30 days. The meal plan consisted of fresh fruit and vegetables, green juice, nuts, legumes, salads, smoothie bowls in any quantity I wanted! This was not supposed to be a restrictive diet rather a chance for my body to recover from being nourished badly by months of basically eating crap.
Leading up to this I had watched youtube channels by:
Ellen Fisher: https://www.youtube.com/user/MangoIslandMamma1
Simnett Nutrition: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpyhJZhJQWKDdJCR07jPY-Q
Healthy Crazy Cool: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHmZjV16rxExTImGh6I_buA
And that really helped brainwash me into a better attitude to healthy eating.
I also read this book:
https://www.medicalmedium.com/life-changing-foods
which also was a huge revelation for me!
After one month I felt great!
I was full of energy, my thoughts felt clearer, my skin was clearer, I started losing weight (the medication I was on had brought up my weight quite a bit) and it also gave me the feeling of Hey I just completely turned my diet around (which is a huge part of anyone's life), If I can do that I can start chopping away at all the other stuff that bothers me too!
Why I kept on eating like this
- I felt like: I feel better than ever before, why should I go back to the way it was before?
- I started to enjoy eating and cooking again
- No more muscle soreness ( which is a big thing if you are a professional dancer and Athlete)
- I in generally feel more in tune with myself and the world around me
