It's Saturday, we had a quiet day, there wouldn't be much to report in my daily #life. Earlier, my brother completed a minor repair at home, the weather seemed fine, and it was not raining, but now that I was about to sit down to write my journal post for the day, it has started to rain heavily, and I am worried about being offline due to loss of electricity, in short, I am going to publish what I can while there is still electricity, and if it is possible and the service or the internet signal is not lost, then I will complete my comment on the ephemeris of #History a little more for today.

Today is 'World Allergy Day', a date proposed by the World Allergy Organization (founded in 1951), as a way of making the allergic condition and its effects on the lives of millions of people visible, in addition to promoting reflection about the treatments, the development of medicines and the necessary measures for the control of allergies. I did not know that it is estimated that 20% of the world's population has some kind of #allergy, that is a whole #health problem and can in some cases be a condition that endangers people's lives.

I was even more surprised to see that the organization had an estimate that by 2050 half of the world's population was expected to show some joy, that caught my attention and seriously made me doubt what I was reading, so I was time to review a little more.

Edit: Well, I can add some of the content that I have pending, I apologize again for this fragmentary publication, but that is something that is beyond my control, it is part of what here in Venezuela, we usually consider as part of the country-reality. Having said that, let's go back to the issue of the ephemeris that is being celebrated on this day, the issue of allergies brought me things that I did not know.

Firstly, I would like to disarm the word 'allergy', it is an old thing that I used to do when I taught, sometimes it helps to better understand the idea we are talking about. In this case, Allergy is a Greek word composed of Allos (αλλος, other or different) and Ergon (εργον, action, work or reaction). In essence, it can be understood as a reaction resulting from a biological over excitation of the body when being in the presence of an agent or substance that is usually tolerable, or almost innocuous, for the majority of the population.

Allergy is an exaggerated reaction of the body's defense mechanisms, unleashing various symptoms, the most common being skin irritation, tearing, sneezing, and mucous membrane involvement. But, it can also trigger strong reactions, such as inflammation of the tissues and obstruction of the airways, which can lead to suffocation, something that can even kill the person suffering from the reaction.

Allergies are conditions specific to each body in which they occur, they are (in practice) more 'conditions' than 'diseases', because although allergies and their symptoms are treatable, allergies are not really cured. However, personally, I have memories of a little cousin who was born with a severe and unpleasant allergy to certain foods, including chocolate, but was treated and turned out to have overcome all adverse manifestations. The doubt was born in me about that they were not treatable, but after reviewing a little and comparing with the family records, it turns out that it was most likely a particular intolerance due to a hormonal imbalance, instead of a real one allergy, so it was possible to treat him and the cousin was cured.

For cases like these, it is always recommended to consult with specialist doctors, after being evaluated by general practitioners, as it may happen that it is discovered that what was initially suspected, due to the symptoms, turns out to be something different from what seemed In the beginning.

By the way, it caught my attention to note that the organization that brings together those who study and treat allergies is a separate and distinct entity from the World Health Organization. Well, I already said that it is the World Allergy Organization, so I searched about such an organization, and I was able to find good information directly from their official website, if you want to visit it you can go to: https://www.worldallergy.org/about-wao

I am not allergic to anything that I know of... but I cannot trust myself, because allergies are also conditions that can develop due to continuous exposure to an allergenic agent or its repeated consumption, in fact, I have a case like this in my memory. This is the case of my late grandmother, who was a fan of shellfish consumption, and it turns out that from the age of 60 she developed a strong allergy to seafood, and it was impossible for her to eat (precisely) shellfish, that was hard for her, but I think she became allergic from consuming it in large quantities over many years.

Okay, after several edits, and some events with the service on my side of the world (resigned smile), I have managed to complete what I wanted to share from the beginning in my post, I am going to proceed to complete the post. Going then to say goodbye in the end, wishing you that you are well and that we can read each other again another time.
