So here it is, my first Hive post! It's really great to see most of the community onboarding this new adventure, and I'm very curious to see it evolve. I do feel sorry for leaving steem behind but... hard times need hard measures. And given the reaction after Hive launched, if there ever was a doubt this was the right move, not any more.

And to start in beauty, I'm posting a few shots from my usual models: birds! All these three species can be found in Portugal, but all these photos were taken in a breeding facility in Spain.

Eurasian teal / Marrequinho (PT) - Anas crecca, male

The good thing about being in a breeding facility? Birds are more used to human presence and also closer, wich means... cooler photos!

I do miss going out in the field and watching these guys, thow. Been ages since I saw a teal in the wild!

As for this one, even yesterday a portuguese friend was telling he had seen one near his home. They are usually across the river, but this came to the other shore for a walk. warnas@warnas, do you know this one already? ;)

Pied avocet / Alfaiate (PT) - Recurvirostra avosetta

In Tejo's estuary they are common. And with that upwards rounded beak, next time you see one... you'll know what it is!

The next one is also veeery common. Even near cattle, where they help the herds getting rid of some annoying insects and parasites.

Cattle egret / Gar莽a boieira (PT) - Bubulcus ibis

Hence their name! A small white egret, with yellowish legs and beak, but here with more vivid colours. During breeding season, chest and crown aqquire a more vivid yellow. Just look at the small crest here:

With the recent pandemic, I don't know when birdwatching will become possible again. I'll probably should take a closer look at what's flying around my house, and try to get some decent shots!

In the meanwhile, let's see this community grow. And I don't mean the #featheredfriends one, I mean ALL of us! Btw, what's the usual goodbye now? Hive five? 馃榿 Stay safe everyone!
