Well, in fact, only tomorrow will my vacations end; but since I have some free time now, might as well put it to good use. Already reached my last destination, a location with a huge beach in front, although with the insane wind I got myself thinking that staying in the mountains could have been a wiser choice!

Have I thoroughly thought about all the things I wanted, wrote plans, created deadlines?

Nope, not really!

But definitely enjoyed what Gerês, the national park where I spent the last days, had to offer! Did quite a few trails, along with some setbacks (nothing that won't make me laugh in a future), and no doubts I don't want to stay another 20 years before coming back. Besides, I just explored a small part of the park!

I have hundreds of photos from the different hiking trails, and will try to make proper posts about some of them in a near future. Most of these forests seem out of a movie!

Wildlife was also very much present; some captured on camera as well, most simply appreciated with the binoculars, or glimpsed before escaping!

Since I wanted a couple days at the beach (my legs do need some rest!), started my way down today. And while on the trip, and since there wasn't that big of a detour, decided to check a lagoon not that far from Porto!

It's called lagoa de Paranhos, and a walkway has been made around it, around 8km. And a bird observatory was made as well!

The wind wasn't collaborating, though. And apart from a few ducks and cooters far in the water, there was no other species in sight. After chatting a bit with the guy with a monstrous zoom lense waiting patiently for a good photo, off I went to my final destination:

Figueira da Foz is a small city I was wanting to visit for a while! It has a ton of nearby beaches, and in recent years a lot has been done in terms of requalification. I arrived a couple hours before the golden hour and rushed for the beach, but...

The wind was so rough that sand felt something between an exfoliating session and an acupuncture treatment! I took one dive and head back to the hotel.

I sure hope weather improves tomorrow. But even if it doesn't, I'll get something else to do. I even found some lagoons nearby so... maybe I'll try my luck on bird photography again! 😉

Have a great weekend!
