There are four halls and each one is stocked with 20 of the most amazing cars, a full motoring history of South Africa.
The first hall is on show here and I will divide the four halls into four posts.

Across the length and breadth of Southern Africa, only one place can adequately portray the evolution of the automobile, The Franschhoek Motor Museum. The museum’s collection exceeds 220 vehicles – such as the 1898 Beeston motor tricycle – with more than 80 exhibits that are available to view at any one time, displayed in four de-humidified halls with a total floor area of 2700 mÇ, and presented in chronological order.

Now, let's have a look at the cars in the first hall.
I have not posted all the cars, as there are 20 cars and some bikes in each hall. I will do a separate post on the bikes after I have done all four of the halls.
This one below is the famous Ford Model T. 1911.
Look at the snake horn on this car, and it was a big public issue. Can you imagine someone driving this car and honking at you from the figure of a snake? Especially, as the honk sounds similar to a train.
No doubt, that you will know some of the names of the cars in here, but these cars in hall one are all before our time.
I love these cars and the amazing thing is, that they have a track here where they can take each car for regular runs to keep them in tip-top condition. I know that a collection like this must cost millions, if not more, but it is such a pleasure to walk around in these halls in a cloud of witnesses. The Franschhoek motor museum website will show you the full story about the evolution of the motor business in South Africa, and I hope that you have enjoyed the collection in the first hall.
