...and Mother nature once again played a trick on us.
There was no wind when we left our place, and as soon as we arrived here suddenly a breeze started to come alive. I thought it would be a golden opportunity to get some reflections on the dam, but the breeze had a different idea, nevertheless I could still get some beautiful landscape shots. The Vergelegen Wine Estate is a historical wine farm, but since the olden days the farm was expanded into offering many alternative activities.
They have a superb five-star rating for taking care of nature and wildlife and they offer an ideal venue to visit when you arrive in South Africa. Great restaurants, great food, great wines, and a range of adventures exist on the farm. It is also a photographer's paradise, and that's why we often visit the farm as it is also crammed with birdlife. So, to all the tourists out there, make sure to put a visit to this iconic farm on your bucket list.
Now let's look at the pictures and imagine that you are walking with us.
A lovely wooden walkway was erected across the dam, and it offers some magical views as you will see below.
Let's have a look at the mountains as there were some weird clouds hanging about.
Did I tell you that there were some weird clouds present?
Suddenly, a stream of clouds flowed in on the picture below.
Just an easy Sunday read as the views were astounding and it is such a pleasure to take a walk here. They also have a museum on the farm that is stocked with historical photos and there are many other selective areas such as a prizewinning rose garden and a camellia forest that also has won many awards, as it is one of the few in the world. For those that are hungry, there are two excellent restaurants on the farm with great food and of course great wines to accompany the meals.
Security is tight on the farm, and so it is a safe place for visitors. Most of the farms in the area were started 100 or more years ago, and they all have long histories. There are apple farms, citrus farms, and many other productive farms all over the place. One can even be taken on a tour of the winelands that stops at many other farms that offer wine and olive tasting experiences. So, there you have it and we hope to see some of the tourists visiting the farms.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
