How a ride through the city turned into an unexpected exploration of long exposure photography.
Some of the creative shots are clicked when you aren't really planning to take photographs. I was sitting in a cab, city was moving past the window, when the lights passing gave me an idea to try out the pro mode of my OPPO RENO 12 PRO.
What began as a casual attempt to capture the streets slowly turned into a small photography experiment.
that's when things got interesting.
Experimenting with longer shutter speed, allowing the camera to capture movement over time. The Familiar cityscape began to look less like a straight forward photograph and more like an abstract interpretation of the streets.
Building developed a sense of motion around them, while the light from passing cars stretched into trails. Otherwise ignored scenes suddenly had a visual quality worth exploring.
Discovering Long Exposure on a Phone
One of the most exciting parts of it all was realizing how much creative control my phone camera offered.
Shooting in this mode gave me the opportunity to experiment with shutter speed and other manual settings. Long exposure photography opened up a way to capture the relationship between the stationary and moving elements of the city.
The Buildings provided structure. the cars gave us movement. The longer exposure brought the two together in a single frame.
A Small Experiment, A New Perspective.
For many pro mode can be intimidating at first, especially when you're used to letting the phone handle all the settings. But experimenting with shutter speed helped me understand how simple adjustments can change the mood and character of an image.
The experience also made me look at everyday journeys differently. A cab ride isn't just a way to get from one place to another. It can also be an opportunity to observe, experiment and capture something unexpected.
I started with a phone, a moving city and a little curiosity. By the end of the ride, I had a set of photographs that made me want to keep exploring.
And Perhaps that's the best part of photography: you never really know what you'll discover until you start clicking.
