Quiet Corner of Kumaon Region

There were no big plans, there was no checklist of what to see and where to visit all we were looking for was a calming place where we can go and relax. Manila Village in Uttarakhand State of India. It is a small place where you almost miss if you're not paying attention.

It is located at around 1800 meters above the sea level, tucked into the Kumaon hills, with dense oak and pine forests all around. No crowds, No loud music and just the sound of the wind moving through the trees and the constant call of birds.

The drive was long in the winding mountain roads with sharp turns, but the moment we stepped out the air felt different.... Cooler, Cleaner like it had been waiting.

From anywhere in the village, the Himalayas sit right in front of you. Not in the distance like some postcard. Mountains are close enough that you feel you could almost touch them.

Light changes so fast there. One minute the mountains are sharp and blue and the next they're wrapped in soft cloud, then the sun drops and everything turns warm. The air gets colder quick, but you don't really mind it because you are busy looking at the clouds.

I visited manila 3 years back, and the memories still feels like it was yesterday that I was there. Sometimes it is just a simple phone photograph that can make you remember all those beautiful memories.
