Protein is almost always I concern to a lot of people when they first go vegan. The truth is it really doesn’t have to be. I talk about it more in this video and also give some advice on how you can make sure you are getting enough protein 100% of the time. I have been an active fit vegan going on 3 years now and this is really what has worked for me.
The World Health Organization said back in the 1970s that we need to be getting around 2.5% of our total daily calories from protein. They upped this to 5% just to be safe.
If you are eating enough whole plant foods (all of which contain some protein) every day then you are easily going to get more than that. The key is just to make sure you are eating a sufficient healthy amount of calories.
The Kenyan Cross Country runners for example eat very high carb low fat low protein diets. They are also eating mainly plant based yet they still dominate the world of athletics every year. It is crazy that the average person things they need more protein than some of the fittest athletes in the world. I talk more about all this in detail in the video.
