It was another cold morning today, though without yesterday’s icy wind. I went for my walk around the peninsula using interval walking, and when I stood on the Siemenssteg at the start and looked up at that beautiful orange sunrise sky, I knew that my favorite aunt, after a long battle with cancer, had left us, this world, this planet, had left her life behind and embarked on her final great adventure. Shortly after I got back home, I got the call from my cousin. Have a safe journey, dear Auntie; we’ll miss you.

Das war wieder ein kalter Morgen heute, nur ohne den eisigen Wind von Gestern. Ich bin die Halbinselrunde im Intervall-Walking gegangen, und als ich zu Beginn auf dem Siemenssteg stand und in diesen wunderschönen orangenen Sonnenaufgangshimmel blickte, wusste ich, dass meine Lieblingstante nach langem Kampf gegen den Krebs uns, diese Welt, diesen Planeten verlassen und ihr Leben hinter sich gelassen und das letzte große Abenteuer angetreten hatte. Kurz nachdem ich wieder zuhause war, kam der Anruf von meinem Cousin. Gute Reise, liebes Tantchen, wir werden dich vermissen.
