Today, as I spread this Ankara fabric on the table and began arranging the pieces carefully, I found myself appreciating the beauty of needlework all over again. What may look like ordinary pieces of fabric to some people already looks like a complete outfit in the eyes of a tailor. Before the sewing machine even starts running, the mind has already imagined the final result.This morning’s work reminded me that tailoring is more than just joining fabric together. It is patience, creativity, attention, and hard work combined in one. Every measurement matters. Every cut has to be done carefully. Every line drawn on the fabric has a purpose. One small mistake can change the entire fitting of an outfit, and that is why sewing teaches us to pay attention to details.
Looking at these cut pieces on the table may seem simple, but there is a process behind them. First comes the idea of the style you want to create. Then you begin drafting, measuring, folding, and placing the fabric properly before cutting. Sometimes you spend more time thinking and adjusting than actually sewing because you want everything to come out neat and balanced. That is one thing I have learned from needlework patience is just as important as skill.
