Buck in the Yard

Recently a fine specimen of a white tail deer paid us a visit. The following are a few pictures and a video of the encounter.

Not wanting to spook him I started out in the house with my phone camera. Here I am peeking around the curtain to get my first shots.

Like I said a fine specimen. A nice symmetrical rack with outstanding muscle definition.

As I realized he didn't care about me standing in the window a few feet from him...

I was able to get a couple more shots zoomed in.

I moved to another window to capture some video. As of this writing this is my most popular short on YouTube at 2.3k views. Since he had his head down grazing most of the time this video also contains the best shot of him with his head up facing the camera.

After about 30 minutes I was back sitting at my computer when I looked out the window and noticed he was now in the front yard grazing.

I decided to grab my Nikon with the zoom lens and head outside to try to get some more shots. Again though, he seemed hardly perturbed by my presence photographing him.

Finally, I think I strayed a little too close and he decided to move on

He spent nearly an hour foraging around the yard. A good meal for him indeed.

And ever the smart deer he looked both ways before crossing the road. 🤣
