On a recent trip across the Cascade Mountain Range to the Willamette Valley in Oregon, I took a break from the drive to explore Salt Creek Falls. It's been on my bucket list for a while so this was a perfect opportunity for a quick stop to gather some images of the falls. As a bonus I will share some shots my dad took here at the end. So join along for a tour... Past and Present!

scfv-10.JPGA view of the falls as it plummets 286 feet over the edge. The third highest plunge in Oregon. Another thing I found interesting is the pool at the bottom is 66 feet deep. I always think of those landing areas as fairly shallow for some reason.

Moving around to the left we get to the plunge point where the water goes over the edge.

Three views of the creek as it continues its journey to meet up with the Middle Fork of the Willamette River after its fall.

scfv-7.JPGFrom just the right angle you can glimpse a rainbow formed by the rising mist.

scfv-8.JPGTwo more shots of the falls. The one above is a single shot and the one on the right is a panorama of three zoomed in shots I stitched together in Lightroom. As always when I do this I should have aken a few more frames to fill the pano out a little better. :)

scf-3.JPGHere are two shots my dad took in the 1970's. The plunge point and a hint of the rainbow similar to mine above. These are 35mm slides I scanned and did my best to restore using Lightroom.

scf-1.JPGOne more of his he took in the 1950's on a hike down closer to the base of the falls. Definitely something I need to do on my next visit here! 馃榾
