So as autumn hits and the weather gets cooler, I've found out an old hard disk drive with some pictures on there that I took at Niagara Falls in winter. The shots were taken using an old Ricoh camera, I think it was 1.3 megapixels and was sold as a "semi-professional" camera. Far from it, the images were shot in March 2000, possibly around the 18th and 19th of March, sorry it's 26 years since I was there.
Anyhow, some of the pictures were really blurry, so I've got the help from AI and restored the shots, some of them (daylight ones), didn't really need much doing to them, but the night ones, as I didn't have a tripod, these are the ones where AI has really helped me sort.
This is one of my favourite shots from the trip, just love how bit the falls look with the lone character walking along the front, I'm not sure if he is looking at a mobile phone, as not everyone had them back in 2000, but he certainly adds to the shot. The previous night the temperature dropped to -20c, there was ice everywhere due to the spray of the falls, trees looking like they were made of ice too. I was stood on a wall when I shot this, not realising I'd moved from where I first got onto the wall, I jumped down and landed on some ice and fell flat on my back, I didn't hurt myself but it was a bit embarrassing.
I'm glad I was able to restore this image as it was a little blurred, this is the Skylon tower, I actually went up the tower and had dinner at the top, sadly the rotating restaurant was fully booked, but there is also one above that, the food was beautiful with what I remember, and you can also go out on to the roof to admire the might Niagara Falls.
Talking of being out on the roof of the Skylon Tower, this was a shot from there, again this was blurry but thanks to AI, I can finally see the picture how it was when I was there.
Another shot that was really blurred due to camera movement, looking at the veil and America falls with
Buffalo New York in the background. I know it's not the best shot, I was just getting into photography back then, I think I need another trip to Niagara now I'm a bit better with the camera.
This was really blurred too, AI has done an extremely good job at restoring.
The rainbow in the falls, I felt I was so lucky to see this, what I couldn't believe was just how big the snowballs was in the falls, I think they were more icebergs than snowballs.
I loved it in Canada and I did return around 2004/5 but I've not been back in now over 20 years, I only paid £250 for a return flight too, bargain!
I so need to go back, but need to sort finances first.
