Happy Sunday, y'all !

As the late, great Mr. Fred Rogers wrote, "It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood..."

Yeah I decided to take a trip. Not a far trip, just one state south to North Carolina to visit a relation and talk about the times and reminisce about the days of yore. Oh and did I mention food? Meeting relations should always revolve around food. So we decided to meet in Greensboro North Carolina in a place called Mythos Grill . I got a gyro with fries for 12 bucks that included the drink. It was quite good in fact I couldn't even finish all the fries, mainly because I knew there was more eating to be done.

You see, down the street a ways, there is a place called Maxie B’s that offers homemade, baked daily cakes and pies for sale by the slice! 😃 Oh and don't let me forget the brownies, cookies and cupcakes too!

For me the struggle was real. It was a toss-up between the strawberry cake, the devil's food cake, and the red velvet cake. Of course I am a fiend for brownies and I love many kinds of cookies so the choices were daunting to say the least. The idea of the upcoming sugar high was just overwhelming so I decided to keep it simple and go with the old school basic choice of a chocolate cake. I thought the others would give me a good excuse to come back in the future and the chocolate cake would give me the opportunity to judge from a widely known base.

Let me say the slice of chocolate cake did not disappoint. Although it was not cheap at $8 a slice, the cake was delicious and the relaxed atmosphere and comfortable seating of the dessert cafe seemed to justify the price. I plan to come back to sample some of the other offerings. I mean how could one not go back for some apple pie in the fall???
