I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. I believe every human being has something from the past they have experienced before that they would like to experience again, but the power to bring the past back to life is the only thing standing between them and that experience; if not, they would have done it again without even wasting time. A lot of people, if it were up to them, would do all that it takes to experience things from the past that are no longer being experienced. Time is changing and our world is evolving; a lot of things that were trending are no longer trending and are slowly beginning to fade away, while there are some that have already faded away, but the feeling it brought those that experienced it has not, and they will want to have that feeling again.
If I had the power, there are many things I really want to experience again, and some I have not seen or experienced but believe to have existed in the past that I would like to bring back to life just so I could experience them myself and feel the feeling the ones I have experienced before are felt again. There are feelings that we no longer enjoy, and they brought us so much joy while we had and enjoyed those feelings, and since those things that brought us those feelings are no more, they all left with the feeling.
If I had the power to bring back one thing from the past, I am not going to bring back dinosaurs to life or dragons. I am not even going to bring back an animal, but moments where life felt a lot easier than what we have today, moments when we were there for each other, and moments when only distance kept us away from each other, unlike what we have today, where we are close and live right next to each other but are still very far and distant from each other. I would bring back the simpler way if life had many of us experienced growing up before things fell apart; they were times when people were not constantly staring at their phones, laptops, and computers, times when we did not use AI as companions but rather we used friends and fellow humans as our companions.
I would bring the days where we were fully present in the moment; these days we cannot even have a conversation with family and friends anymore. We just want every conversation with them to be brief so we can go back to what we were doing on our phone or laptop. These days we just scroll through our phones and move from one social media app to another, talk to one, and chat with a few people—no physical bonding. We are together with family and friends, yet we are so distant from each other. We act like strangers, yet we sleep and live in the same house.
Those days it would take nothing for kids, nothing at all, to gather and start playing; adults would come together to tell stories to kids and to each other. Today you hardly see kids outside playing; they are either on their iPad or on their phones. Kids these days, I will say, are not making any childhood memories they can look back to. Technology made us connected, and at the same time it connected us, bringing back the days where we spent time with each other. It does not mean removing technology; it simply means finding balance somehow such that we get to experience spending time with loved ones again where they are fully present in the moment.
