Hello, everyone.

I welcome my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. I think every year one of the seasons we all look forward to is the holiday season. For so many reasons we cannot ignore the season, both as adults and as children. Children look forward to it because it is a season they get to spend time outside their house as they want; parents are less strict during the holiday season, and that gives them room to explore, have fun with friends and family, and make memories with family members they have not seen in years or in months. The holiday season is like when a portal opens up once a year; this portal gives you access to things the rest of the year has deprived you of.

Many workplaces don't give workers a break until the holiday season; this makes workers in that type of setting look forward to the holiday season because that is their only getaway to the rest they have been craving for, their only way of getting to see and spend time with family and friends. Trust me when I say at least 95% of the world's population looks forward to the holiday season. Whether they are going to celebrate it in a big way or not, some just want the holiday and the rest that comes with the season, while some use it as an opportunity to reconnect with friends and family, and some look forward to it because of the entertainment and fun that comes with the season.

The holiday season is one season that never goes unnoticed; months before it comes, you start hearing about it and seeing things that remind you that the season is upon us, and if you don't have any plans, you can start working on one unless you don't plan to enjoy your holiday. Every ad on your phone or on TV reminds you of the season. Shops and store owners start to add little decorations to their shops that remind you of the season, and they also start to sell decoration materials that are only displayed during the season, so saying you don't know the season is upon us is impossible unless you live underground and are cut off from that rest of the world.

I don't really have much planned out for the holiday season; I've been busy with work and moving from one place to the other, but I believe the holiday season will be the reason they cut us some slack, and I will be free to move the rest of my properties from my apartment in school. Since I left, I have not been able to go back and move completely, but since the holiday season comes with the break and the time I need to do that, I will not hesitate to because if I don't, I might not have the opportunity to do so again.

I also look forward to spending time in my hometown with my family, both immediate and extended, as we celebrate the traditional retirement of one of my uncles. The traditional retirement is a celebration in my hometown that happens once in two years during this holiday season because it is a time when most people are free and available to help spice up the event. It is a big traditional event that signifies the retirement of those involved; this simply means they no longer pay taxes and are now relieved of every responsibility that they carry concerning our hometown.

It is always celebrated in a big way because it is never easy to live up to the age of retiring; it is also an opportunity for us who did not grow up in our hometown to learn and practice and be part of our culture. So I look forward to being able to move my properties during this holiday season, spending time with family and friends and also participating in the traditional retirement ceremony coming up.
