Hello, everyone.

It is very difficult these days to come across people who will love and care for you like you want or imagine, so if you really do need love and care, it is up to you to give yourself that. Everyone is busy looking out for themselves and has little or no time to do that for others. This is where self-love comes into play. The love and care you crave for, you give yourself that, many people are scared to put themselves first or show themselves love because of what people will say or how people will react but it is a wrong thing to do, you must love yourself first before you can really love another person. So if you deprive yourself of love, how do you spread it?

Self-love starts with accepting who you are and accepting your flaws, as no one is without flaws. If you do not accept who you are, you cannot love yourself. Self love is all about appreciating your every effort and celebrating your small wins, many people show themselves hatred by failing to appreciate themselves, failing to celebrate your small wins is you killing the zeal and morale to try again, because you got half of what you aimed for does not mean you shouldn't appreciate yourself, those little appreciations boost morale and when we get none we lose zeal to try again.

Self-love is all about putting yourself in a position where you get the type of love and respect you deserve as well. When respect leaves the table and you still stay, you really don't love yourself. Putting yourself first does not make you selfish, self-love is putting yourself in a position to win, in a position that favours your mental health, physical health and even your finances, putting yourself in a position where you get hurt or pain does not preach self-love. We all have ways to show ourselves how much we love ourselves; some go for treats, and some take a little time away from the rest of the world to help them cool off. Below are a few ways I keep myself going.

I don't beat myself up when things don't go as planned.

I have seen a lot of people talk about how they hate themselves and how they feel cursed all the time because things don't go their way. I'd never do that; instead, I only give room for positivity when my plan fails. I might feel sad that a plan failed, but not for long. I just look for a way to get over it and not talk to myself or about myself negatively. The more negative words you say to yourself, the less you love yourself. You don't have to beat yourself when things don't go your way; just find a way a way around it, as beating yourself won't help matters.

Gratitude.

Appreciate every little thing that comes your way; that is the only way you can celebrate your small wins. When you fail to practice the habit of gratitude, you cannot celebrate small things as you will want more and, at some point, set a level or limit for what is worth celebrating and what is not worth celebrating. Show appreciation for things, no matter how small they are.
